Terms of service.
The agreement between you and SceneKey when you use the app. We've kept the legal jargon to a minimum — but please read it.
The short version
- SceneKey connects riders with independent driver-partners.
- Drivers are independent contractors, not employees — they set their own hours and accept the trips they want.
- Be respectful, follow the law, and pay your fares.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a safety risk.
1. The agreement
These terms form a legal agreement between you and SceneKey Technologies (Pvt.) Ltd. ("SceneKey", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use SceneKey after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
2. Using SceneKey as a rider
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a SceneKey account. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement.
Booking a ride
When you book a ride, you're asking us to match you with a nearby driver. We don't guarantee that a driver will accept every request — supply fluctuates by time of day and city. Fares are estimated upfront but may change due to route adjustments, tolls, or surge pricing you didn't see at booking.
Cancellations
You may cancel a ride for free within 2 minutes of booking. After that, a cancellation fee may apply if a driver has already arrived or is en route to your pickup. The exact fee is shown in the app before you confirm a cancellation.
Payment
You agree to pay the fare for any ride you complete (or any cancellation fee that applies). Fares include base, time, distance, applicable tolls, and any surge multiplier shown at booking. Payment is processed through your default payment method on file.
Promo codes & credits
Promo codes and SceneKey wallet credits are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may expire. We may void credits obtained through fraud or abuse.
3. Conduct & community standards
Whether you're a rider or a driver, you agree to:
- Treat everyone with respect — no harassment, discrimination, or threats.
- Follow all applicable laws and traffic regulations.
- Not damage, deface, or steal vehicles or property.
- Not smoke, vape, or use alcohol/drugs in the vehicle.
- Use the seatbelt provided.
- Refrain from recording other riders or drivers without their consent.
Violations may result in warnings, account suspension, or permanent deactivation at our sole discretion. We may also involve law enforcement where appropriate.
4. Drivers are independent contractors
Drivers on SceneKey are independent contractors — not employees. They set their own schedules, choose which trips to accept, and are responsible for their own taxes, vehicle costs, and insurance beyond the commercial coverage SceneKey provides per trip.
5. Cancellations, refunds & disputes
If you believe a fare was charged in error, open the trip in the app and tap Get help within 30 days. Our support team reviews every dispute. Refunds, when issued, are credited to your original payment method or your SceneKey wallet.
6. Account termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Delete account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, pose a safety risk, or engage in fraudulent activity. Terminated accounts may be barred from creating new accounts.
7. Disclaimers & liability
The SceneKey service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the total fares you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold SceneKey harmless from any claims, losses, or damages (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
9. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, except where prohibited by applicable consumer-protection law.
Before filing a formal claim, we encourage you to contact us at legal@scenekey.app — most disputes resolve without litigation.
10. Severability & entire agreement
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SceneKey regarding the service.
