What we store on your device.

We use cookies and similar technologies sparingly — only what's needed to keep the app working, remember your preferences, and improve the product.

The short version

  • We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and improve the product.
  • We never sell your data, and we don't run third-party ad networks.
  • You can clear SceneKey cookies any time from your browser settings, or disable them entirely in Settings > Privacy > Cookies.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. It usually contains the site name and a unique value. Cookies let the site recognize your device on future visits. We also use similar technologies like local storage, session storage, and device identifiers — this policy covers all of them.

Why we use cookies

We use cookies for four reasons: keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, understanding how the product is used, and preventing fraud. We've organized the cookies we use into the categories below.

Strictly necessary

These cookies are required for the app and website to work — for example, keeping you signed in, processing payments, and preventing fraud. They cannot be disabled.

Examples: session_id, csrf_token, device_fingerprint

Functional

These cookies remember your preferences — recent destinations, preferred payment method, language, accessibility settings. Disabling them won't break the app, but you'll lose your preferences between visits.

Examples: recent_destinations, preferred_payment_method, locale

Analytics

We use anonymized analytics to understand which features are most useful, where people get stuck, and what's broken. We never link this data to your identity. You can opt out below.

Examples: page_view, feature_used, crash_report

Marketing

We do not use marketing cookies on SceneKey. The only marketing communications you receive are inside the app (push notifications) or via SMS if you opted in. We do not run third-party ad networks.

How to control cookies

You have several options for controlling the cookies we set:

  • Browser settings.Block or delete cookies for our domain (or all sites). See your browser's help docs for instructions — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge all support this.
  • In the app. Disable analytics cookies under Settings > Privacy > Cookies. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled (they keep the app working).
  • Do Not Track. We honor the Do Not Track browser signal — analytics cookies are not set when DNT is enabled.

Third-party cookies

A small number of our cookies are set by third parties on our behalf. These are limited to:

  • Stripe — payment fraud prevention
  • Cloudflare — DDoS protection and content delivery
  • Mapbox — maps and routing (when you view a map on the web)

None of these providers use the cookies to advertise to you or build profiles across the web.

How long cookies last

  • Session cookies — expire when you close the browser
  • Functional cookies — typically 30 days to 1 year
  • Analytics cookies — 13 months (the maximum allowed under most privacy regulations)
